YIFY Torrent Encoder Retires

On January 23, 2014 the YIFY original encoder has stepped down. From the popular bittorrent website YIFY-torrents.com, amongst many other public trackers, YIFY has created a remarkable name. YIFY-torrents is mainly known for their small size bittorent uploads. The encoder team uploaded 720P and 1080P DVD rips that were almost all under 1gb in size. While the original YIFY-torrents encoder YIFY retires, the YIFY torrents will not stop. New encoders will be taking over and creating a new website named YTS.re. but still keeping the same file size and quality as YIFY. On YIFY-Torrents.com YIFY left the following message

Dear friends,

After two and half years of running the YIFY-Torrents website, and almost four years of being involved in the torrent community, I have decided that the time has come for a new challenge. As much as I have loved being able to provide content for all of you, it is simply time for a change in my life. From uploading movies off of a 10 year old laptop in my bedroom, to being featured by TorrentFreak, and overcoming an ISP level blockade in the UK; the memories and experiences I have gained from this journey are greater than I’d ever imagined, and I will treasure them for a long time to come.

That being said, there will be a few small changes made to the website. Veteran encoder OTTO will now be handling uploads, and ever-present supporter Seraph, who many of you may know, will be handling administrative matters. To reflect this changing of the guard, the website will go through a slight rebranding and be known as YTS.re from here on out. To make it clear, we are not shutting down. As much as I am stepping back, our community as a whole is stepping forward, and with OTTO and Seraph at the helm these changes will be purely cosmetic.

I would like to take this moment to thank you, for your unwithering support and endless dedication to making this site what it is today. None of this would have been possible without each and every one of you, from those there from the start to those visiting the first time today. Thank you all, for spreading your seed, making us one of the biggest trackers in the world, and for giving me a reason to do this for so long. You were YIFY Torrents every bit as much as I ever was.

Live long and Prosper,
YIFY

From the the new admins:
For clarification, the only real change to the site will be the new domain name (YTS.re). All the encodes will be the same size, same quality and come at the same frequency that you have come to expect from YIFY Torrents.
We’re looking forward to the future, and have been lucky to be entrusted with such an excellent platform and userbase by YIFY.

Regards,
The YTS Team

While YIFY torrents will not stop, the original founder and encoder YIFY has retired. While YIFY stood up to internet censorship and made headlines in bittorent news, it is a shame to see YIFY leave the bittorent scene. YIFY did a great deal of amazing work in his years of encoding, and his team will continue to do so.
