Hackers Threaten Sony Pictures Employees After Attack

After the massive cyber attack that plagued Sony Networks, taking the company system offline for a prolonged period of time, hackers have once again escalated the matter to the next level.

Hackers have taken their hack to what some employees are calling the “scary phase,” threatening Sony employees and their family’s. One employee told reporters “It’s really crazy and scary.”

The Sony hack continues to progressively get worse, as the hack only began last week, attackers escalated matters quickly this week leaking a trove of sensitive data belonging to the company.

Hacker who have identified themselves as #GOP (Guardians of Peace) have claimed responsibility for all damages regarding stolen as well as deleted internal system data belonging to the company.

Just one week after the Sony Picture hacking, attackers leaked five unreleased movies online, including titles “Annie”, “Mr Turner”, “Still Alice”, “To Write Love on Her Arms”, and “Fury.” Though the company has yet to make any public statements, the movies came from the company days after the Sony breach.

Many have blamed North Korea for the hacking incident, claiming its a response to Sony’s latest production, “The Interview.” A comedy film where the CIA plans to assassinate North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-Un.

Just yesterday, hackers leaked over 25GB of sensitive employee documents containing Social Security numbers, medical and salary information. Included in the data was internal status reports, audit data among thousands of other sensitive files.

Among all the havoc wreaked on internal Sony Pictures systems, now several media outlets report Sony Pictures employees are receiving threatening emails from the group of attackers.

Variety reports hackers wrote an email in English with one single demand: “Please sign your name to object the false (sic) of the company at the email address below if you don’t want to suffer damage. If you don’t, not only you but your family will be in danger.”

Sony Pictures is reported to be working the the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate the ongoing incident. Until then, employee’s have been instructed to turn off all WiFi enabled devices and to turn their phones off after receiving the email message.

Reporters at Variety received a full copy of the email hackers sent to Sony Pictures Employee’s, it reads:

I am the head of GOP who made you worry.

Removing Sony Pictures on earth is a very tiny work for our group which is a worldwide organization. And what we have done so far is only a small part of our further plan. It’s your false if you think this crisis will be over after some time. All hope will leave you and Sony Pictures will collapse. This situation is only due to Sony Pictures. Sony Pictures is responsible for whatever the result is. Sony Pictures clings to what is good to nobody from the beginning. It’s silly to expect in Sony Pictures to take off us. Sony Pictures makes only useless efforts. One beside you can be our member.

Many things beyond imagination will happen at many places of the world. Our agents find themselves act in necessary places. Please sign your name to object the false of the company at the email address below if you don’t want to suffer damage. If you don’t, not only you but your family will be in danger.

Nobody can prevent us, but the only way is to follow our demand. If you want to prevent us, make your company behave wisely.

A number of sources online have reported Sony Pictures employee’s to be worried and are currently in the midst of protecting their own data. One anonymous source claimed a Sony employee to be changing their banking information due to the attack. Others were instructed to go home among several other reports.

The FBI is currently investigating the sensitive matter with Sony, yet details remain scarce.
